PTA (Parent Teacher Association)

We are a group of parents and carers who meet together to arrange fundraising events to benefit the school.

There is a committee of about seven people, including the Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, and there are all the other parents and carers who turn up to support, help and get involved.

We try to meet at least once a term. Our meetings are informal, in the staff room at 7.30pm and last about one hour. If there is a particular event coming up, a team of volunteers will meet to arrange this.

Our big events of the year are the Winter and Summer Fairs.

Our Aims

  • To raise funds for those extra things that can make school great.
  • To promote the involvement of families and the community in St. John's.
  • To be inclusive, fun and friendly.

What We Do

For the children, we put on discos and family events, and organise Winter and Summer Fairs.

For you, our events are a great way to have fun, get to know other parents and support the school whilst raising money.

For the school, we buy brilliant stuff! We have bought I-pads and laptops, Reading books subsidised trips, funded the vegetable plots and the fantastic playhouse in the Reception Outdoor classroom. Your children's PE and book bags also come from us.

What You Can Do

You are warmly invited to support our school PTA in whatever way you can.

If you can come along to meetings, you will be very welcome, however new or old your family is to the school. Coming to a meeting does not mean you will be asked to organise anything and new ideas are always appreciated. Meetings and events are advertised on the PTA notice boards at the playground entrances.

If you can't manage meetings, but can lend a hand at events, that would be fantastic.
